Course Description

This qualification reflects the role of pathology assistants and specimen reception staff in laboratories. Workers in this role follow known routines and procedures, taking responsibility for their own work under general supervision. This qualification prepares laboratory assistants and instrument operators with essential skills for various industry sectors. Emphasis is placed on following work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and adhering to work health and safety (WHS) regulations, especially concerning environmental hazards and dangerous goods. Additionally, the qualification focuses on applying quality principles in laboratory and field work, essential for maintaining high standards in sampling, testing, and production operations.

Total number of units = 14 (8 core and 6 Electives)

A Material Fee of $250 is to be paid with the first installment of the fees. This is not included in the full deposit and is additional to the payment plan below. The material fees include uniform, practical kit, and course content.

Selection Criteria

Be over the age of 18
Minimum of IELTS 6.0 score or equivalent
Applicants are required to undertake a course Entry requirement test (CERT) and obtain a minimum of 50% to be deemed eligible to enter the course
